Low student learning outcomes in Social Sciences (IPS) subjects because students are less active in cooperative learning, in group learning only a few students are active or not all students are active in groups, and the models used by teachers are less varied. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the use of cooperative learning model type investigation group (GI) accompanied by Mind Map on the results of social studies learning of class VIII SMP N 1 Lembang Jaya.
This type of research includes experimental research. The research design used was randomized control group only design. The population in this study were all eighth grade students of SMP N 1 Lembang Jaya in the 2018/2019 academic year, totaling 5 local students with 115 students. Sampling is done by Random Sampling by looking for class standard deviations. the class chosen as the experimental class is class VIII.2 with 23 students and the control class is VIII.5 with 23 students. Data collection techniques used in the form of observation and documentation. The data analysis technique used is to find the value of normality test, homogeneity test, and hypothesis test.
The results of data analysis obtained by using t-test obtained t count = 3.60 and t table = 1.68 which means that the hypothesis is accepted at the level of confidence 95% (a = 0.05) because thitung>t table then the hypothesis is accepted. It can be concluded that there is a positive and significant effect on social studies learning outcomes of class VIII of SMP N 1 Lembang Jaya by using cooperative learning type investigation group (GI) accompanied by Mind Map.
Suggestions in this thesis are expected for social studies teachers to use cooperative learning model group investigation (GI) type accompanied by Mind Map in the teaching and learning process as one of the teacher's performance and as a guide to improve student learning outcomes. For schools to provide an illustration to schools so that the teaching skills of social studies teachers have an important role in improving the quality of education.
