This research was aimed to see the effect of using podcast toward students' listening comprehension at SMK NI Gunung Talang 2017/2018 academic year Their listening comprehension was not really satisfying. It was caused by some conditions like the students were not exposed enough to listening activities and the use of good media was not found during teaching and learning process, because the school did not have enough facility for teaching listening comprehension.
Furthermore, quasi experimental research was used as the design for this research. The population was the students at the first grade of SMKN 1 Gunung Talangat 2017/2018 Academic Year with the total of the population was 319 students. To find the sample of this research, purposive sampling technique was used by the researcher. There were 33 members at experimental class and 31 members in control class. The experimental class and control class were determined by doing preliminary test.
The result of this research showed that the use of podcast gave a positive effect toward students' listening comprehension. Students' listening comprehension was analyzed by using t-test statistical which t calculated 6,13and t table 1,67. With significant level, it could be concluded that t calculated I table So, the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected while alternative hypothesis (H₁) was accepted. The hypothesis says that "students at the first grade of SMKN 1 Gunung Talang that were taught by using Podcast have better result in listening comprehension than students who were taught without using Podcast".
