This research was aimed to analyze students' attitude towards assignment given by the teacher on writing recount text by the ninth grade students of MTs. TI Paninggahan 2019/2020 academic year. Assignments were given by the teacher on any types of English subject; especially on writing recount text responded with various attitude by the students shown in the backcground of this research.
This research was descriptive research. The population was the students at the ninth grade of MTs. TI Paninggahan 2019/2020 academic year. Questionnaire was used to collect the data. In this questionnaire the students could tick (v) in the available coloums. In this case, the researcher used 40 items in form of statements which every item made based on 4 indicators of recount text and 3 indicators of students' attitude.
The results of the data analysis showed that students' attitude toward assignment given by the teacher on writing recount text was in the "very good" level. It can be seen by the students' positive response in responding the questionnaire statements about assignments that given by the teacher on writing recount text. It can be concluded that the students' attitude toward assignment given by the teacher on writing recount text at ninth grade students of MTs. TI Paninggahan was very good. This research gives suggestion to the teacher to be more creative in giving assignments. For students, it expected to be more interested and active in doing the assignments.
